1. Preferences in Workspace

  • Please set 'Text file encoding' to "UTF-8" before you download & run for Dexter

 

2. Install or Update Dexter Eclipse Plug-ins

  • Run Eclipse
  • Run install menu : Help > > Install New Software
  • Add Dexter Update Site (if you already add the site, just select it): Click "Add" Button.
  • Type the update site in the Location field and click the OK. Check the update site on the following page :  [ Dexter Download Page ]
  • Click the "Select All".
  • then click "Finish" button.
  • After accepting licence and installation, Dexter will be rerun.

3. How to Use Dexter Eclipse

  • Note:  You can learn how to use Dexter Eclipse on the Eclipse help after installing Dexter Eclipse.
  • Go to the Eclipse top menu > Help > Help Contents
  • Select the "Samsung VD Dexter User Guide" on the left side.
  • You can analyze all of defects in project scope through Dexter Eclipse by clicking right mouse button on the project name.
  • And also analyze the C or CPP Project(Not JAVA Project) by using following icon() on the menu.

 

4. Standalone mode in Eclipse

  • Before you configure the server, you can run the Dexter-eclipse in standalone mode with "Run in standalone mode" Option. 
  • Although Dexter-eclipse can detect defect in the IDE, But it will not be able to confirm the defects in the Dexter WEB.

 

5. Verify

  • To verify with completion of installation by Dexter in eclipse, you can download and check using test workspace.  

  • defect in Problem View "window > show View > problems > Type : Static Analysis Problem(Dexter)"
